ahhhh Kane-Mleko, one of my all time fav dm4 demos. This demo gave me an insight on how dm4 works.

yes fuzz, it is good to watch even the first minute of this demo if only to see kane's evasive tactics with the teleport/ssg; many could benefit from learning this even now. kane was a machine in qw, and my only regret about his qw gaming life is that he went over to q3 before qw tdm had even started to reach a point of maturity. his comment at the end says it all: "ok nun (now)dm2." This guy moved from map to map, just by out-thinking and aiming his opponents... Phil, i think this was in 1999 or earlier.

yup.. kane was a machine. i remember, after tgi (i was still hardcore newb.. i think my first few weeks into quake) some "otes" (quake-owner) of that time was talking about kane/lakerman/etc on a russian chat channel... how kane uses special scripts for weapons, just presses one button for SNG, another for LG.

everyone described him as machine, animal, etc, and even now i see why.. i mean the skills in this demo are certainly ahead of its time (i suspect the 2001 timestamp is when the .qwd was converted to .qwz)

Besides griffin, Kane is my all time favorite player in qw.
He felt ahead of the rest of the qw-scene back in those days, being a gun on all three maps.
At that point, it was only LakermaN that could take him down in a 3-map meeting, as you saw in TGI.
The game is highly recommended btw.

Yep Kane was my big favorit back in those days.

Maybe he was a bit to serious? I read an interview after the TGI and he said that he had quit playing qw because of the loss. His friend made him to play again or something.. dont remember much of it.

Someone who now what interview im talking about?

the reason i said early 2000 late 1999 is cause those skills were on par with today's, yet serverinfo claimed a server before the open-source era (source was released 31st dec, 1999, afaik) :)

if anyone was serious, it was lakerman. he even admitted to an ego problem :) me, i think kane deserved to be tgi victor, and the only true luck factor of qwdm - spawns - was proven to exist in tgi dm2 final :) lakerman got skills too tho :D

Back in the days of Laker, Kane, Sectopod, Niko, Xenon, sniket etc, they all were pretty close. The reason Kane and Laker got most of the limelight was because they were so focused and very fierce fighters. They both knew more about the fundamentals at that time. I studied them all for a few years and IMO Laker always had the edge and deserved victory at TGI although Sectopod was always my favourite.

Anyone got those TGI final demos? I'd like to watch the DM4 and DM6 again. The DM6 was especially good as I remember that Kane completely dominated Laker to the point that his game was elevated above what Laker thought was actually possible at the time.

strider: yes, I admire sectopod a lot for he was the first to really use the bunnyhop in deathmatch at a top competitive level. I heard sectopod still plays a bit of qw....is this so? I thought he was going to attend the qhlan...perhaps I just missed him?

ok, Laker was an owner no doubt, but who else thinks Kane was fucking jipped out of the title?

xhrl: Yes, Secto still plays some qw, but I don't think he attended the last qhlan, unfortunately... Actually, quite a few of the old school norwegians still fire some RLs on American McGee's masterpiece now and then!

Yeah Kane was incredibly unlucky on dm2, I think there were seven spawn frags in a row or something, and Lakerman managed to fend him off for the remainder... Kane was making the ground back but too slowly.

Lakerman is fucking GOD

Kane was not far behind, but have u guys seen Timber vs Kane on dm4? holy shit...Kane's not the only machine, Lakerman was just a fucking legend though, IMO makes owning a pro-player look easy. He fucking made Reload look puhleezy. Okay Xenon also made Reload look mega2ez
No Question, and NO DOUBT.

Lakerman VS Xenon dm4 demo around?
