Nice demo, but comparing it to inter isn't really fair. The IBC competition was only open for few weeks and that was some about 3 years ago. If you've been practising since then it's quite feasible that you could beat inter's score :) Also, inter didn't even win it. Some Brazilian cs player did.

I'm fairly sure Inter did win, the ibc website was up for ages and it listed him as having the top scre. Anyways, to elaborate on what you were saying qmole, not only was the tournament open for a limited timeframe, but since mouse speeds have increased up to 2000dpi. Aside from that there's no way to regulate cheating for such a challenge since it's 100% client side. There's any number of cheats that could be employed to give you an advantage that would greatly boost your scoring.

zip (the brazillian guy) made about +9k points in that.. much more then interceptor or other guys..

Yeah, but that was quite some time after the tournament ended and like I said there's no way to regulate people from cheating. If inter had continued playing up until the time zip had submitted his demo, it is probably that inter would of had a much better score to submit as well.

Inter did win the competition. I've seen the Zip demo where he gets (178*55.7)=9914.6pts (might still be here on ch-tv), and I think react (from NZ) also beat Inter's score. I'm sure Inter could improve his old score and on this one... but who really cares...

The point is, Inter won, no one could match his score when it mattered. Any subsequent demos that are being posted and being compared to Inter's score are totally irrelevant. Everyone knows Thresh or Lakerman would get owned by any number of players if they just showed up to the qw scene today if they were totally oblivious to how much people have evolved and improved at playing the game. However when they did play, they were highly regarded as being the best. The only thing that seperated them was how good they were from their peers at that particular point in time when they played. Although, because they were able to accel among their peers at that point of time it may also be reasonably assumed that if they ever did come back, it wouldn't take long for them to regain their relative status as becoming among the top players in the country again.

Showing you could've won a tournament, or you could of aced a test had you had more time, will never win you the tournament or ace you the test.

yeah inter did win it.

I will run a similar tourney soon so we can see how everyone has gotten better on LG :)

Stay tuned to qw.nu/chtv/esr for updates :p

react from new zealand smashed interceptors IBC record but was 1-2 days late submitting the result to the competition so they wouldn't accept it. there is a demo on this site somewhere, you should compare to that instead of interceptors.

zip we all know you are the best and you easily beat euros. Brazilian players have always had the best lg aim even back in TGI days. Euros and especially the swedes know this but don't want to admit it unfortunately.

I'm looking for sick looking models, textures, huds etc. because a buddy of mine from school (he played Q1 back in the day) wants to try playing QW and one of the points of interest for him is the graphical and audio updates the fuhquake engine now supports.

I've got a setup right now using Def's HUD and Crosshair, Retexturing Project's 24 bit textures, MonkeyRats Remodeled progs(md1) models with 24bit textures, lit maps, a few custom texture paks and the MindGrid Audio Pak. Any suggestions is also welcome.

I've seen some QW movies where they use a shaft bolt model that looks a lot like q3 shaft. Does anyone know where I can find it? Thanks B)

Certainly it's just for fun,I knew that somebody has better scores and i'm sure inter can improve his result easily, but i haven't seen demos and i didn't play in 2004 :)

Okay, when I said inter didn't win, I was referring to the Brazilian demo (not zip, I forget his name) that got disqualified. For my money it wasn't a cheat (he posted demos of how he did it later), but never mind :)

Is damage given not directly tied to damage frags? I can give as much or more damage as some of these demos but my LG %, and damage frags are way lower. Doesn't seem to make any sense...

"Is damage given not directly tied to damage frags? I can give as much or more damage as some of these demos but my LG %, and damage frags are way lower. Doesn't seem to make any sense..."

the score in ibc is related to lg% as well, lower lg with constant damage frags = lower score

Just for example I have a povdmm4 where I do like 7400ish, and have like 145 damage frags. Zip's demo is like 7600ish, and he has like 178 damage frags. Does LG % effect damage frags?
Wednesday 12 Apr 2006, 16:22
#35:
phil
if you had 7400 and 145 damage frags then you would have 7400/145=51% lg; if you had 7600 and 178 damage frags, that is 42.7% lg. a damage frag is (afaik) equal to 100hp total from your opponent, lg% does not factor into that, but it does factor into the IBC score

I think pg was asking about "damage" given/taken - the total damage that is done and not the ibc score. When your shafting a newly spawned bot (or person), the damage you do to them while they have the 2seconds or so of protection is not counted, only the damage you do after this period is over is added to your "damage given" total. Damage frags however take all the damage that is done into account. LG% has no effect.
