i really enjoyed the gameplay on the wildtest map. glad to see a slower, more tactical non-lg map. the other maps look like greased lightning for speed.

type this:
demo_setspeed 10
demo_jump 0:32

i remember recently seeing a demo of a similar thing happening with a grenade on dm4... but not even sure if it was from chtv

running wild was pretty nice. at first it seemed weird having 2xRA + 2xMH, but then i remembered dm2 was my favorite map of all time :E

tried watching the other two maps but got bored pretty quickly, as qurnel clearly outclassed the other guy (as is to be expected).

I know, it was more to show you a player who knows the map and how the gameplay would look like then.

i think even fifi, otherwise known as the_fastest_man_with_a_mouse, will like wildtest; though it might have too much lava for fifi's sensitive mouse :P

i want to see the flying_dutchman versus the sexE_poloman_insane on it:)

no comment on the weird ass bug? (see #2)

its map independent afaik, but its rare.. or is it? do you euro ppl play 24/7 so much that you see it every other game? :p

link: i watched all 3 demos very curiously, so i could see those maps you are calling attention to played by decent players and i have to say i found them utterly uninteresting. would you care explaining to me, what makes you being thrilled about them? seriously

Seriously?

Ok, lets be serious:

Wildtest is designed in "the same way" dm2 is, so if you are looking for a RL-skill map without LG, then you got it right there. The map has the same "layout" as dm2, but it is harder to CS on this map, because it is designed particulary to not have the same "flaws" as dm2 got. Sure, you can "CS" on any map, but the defensive player will get a harder time now, compared to dm2. Also the spawns are spread out, so that you dont get 5 frags in a row for nothing. And if you cant learn this easy map after 3 times on it, then you will not ever learn a new map again, coz you are too stupid.

If you play and learn Rusted Factory 2, and really try to learn it, then you will find out after 20 duels on it, that dm4 really is the crappiest map ever for a "fair" duel. The map plays much like Aerowalk; sure, you can have "control" over the map and the whereabouts of your enemy, but the enemy is not "trapped down", like you are most of the time after a spawn on dm4.

One Must Fall 2 is a little more complex for the qw-scene, because you need a brain to play it. But the teleporters on this map + its design, gives the player the possibility to be "all over the map", despite the layouts "first-look". And the map got quite a few cells, like dm6 got, so shaft-whores will prolly like it.

But the majority will not understand/learn what I just said, because they rather go just like you did moris, after watching the demo one time, one a map you are completely clueless on.

Dont worry, this is the same story, like it always have been; conservative players who does not want anything new. I dont expect these players to join the upcoming custom duelmap tournament anyway, and to be honest: who needs them, they bore me, coz they rather think its fun standing on dm4-lg and dm6-gl and scream: OMFG I OWN YOU COZ I AM SO LEET!

dm2, dm4 and dm6, are prolly some of the badest duel maps ever made for qw.

So either I am fucked up stupid retard you can just laugh about, or I am a little bit smarter then the most of you.

Peace.

well link you have some points here while you miss one big one. im a major dm4-hater. dot.

when i watched your custom shaft-whore-map i actually have to say its worse than ztndm3q. i have no problem replacing dm2 with the rl-only custom one and i have definitely no problems with replacing dm4 with any camp-shit-map. but i do have a problem with replacing ztndm3q since imo its the second-shared-best-duel-map after #1 aerowalk being at #2 ztn+dm6 (i dont share your opinion on dm6 being a simple-shaft-whore map)

ztn is badly underestimated on the scene today, which is caused by most players lack of map knowledge there. it has a perfect layout (nothing like one-way-only-to-get-somewhere), item placement and a great connectibility. some ppl say its spawnrape. most players know ztn only from some Hell demo where he owned some n00b 60-0. well yeah, i did that too several times to ztn-n00bs there. but so what? this is not about ztn being spawn-rape map like dm4 is, but this is a simple lack of knowledge. watch the australian duel finals - ztn decider. you might see it in a different light then.

I didnt say anything about ztn. But I am sure dm6edit, dm4edit and dm2edit is good as well, just like ztndm3edit is good. Every map can be good if you edit it.

And how can you say ANYTHING at all on these new custom maps and compare it to a map you already know inside out?

Dm6 is prolly a good map to make duels exciting, because even noobs and ppl who go +forward, regardless, can do pretty well on it. If that is good or bad, I guess we disagree on.

I am not out to say what maps should be the "big 5" or whatever, I am not even interested in the topic. I just want to see some other maps get played on, coz we are an amatuer scene, not a pro one, and I think its boring to watch duels on certain maps.

Anyone is free to play on whatever they want, no matter how many tournaments I promote.

The australian final was very entertaining to watch, I agree. But what if a skilled defensive player had played them? Would they win then? Prolly not, and then someone would have whined CS (or the map suxor).

Maybe better to find maps that got as few "lame issues" as possible? Maybe not? Same for me really, I do this tournament coz I think its fun, not coz I wanna change the attitude of cavemen.

:>

Link, if you think dm6 is just about camping gl, and shafting, pls play it against def, 30 vs 130 ping, i want to see you own him (oh, he sure plays cs, with your words, but i think he only has a great tactical skill+knowledge there)

Aim is of course a part of the game, I never denied that.

But if you want to settle the game on aim only, then you got a mode called dmm4 and you got maps as povdmm4.
